Lithgow Unattended Child Policy and Unattended Adults in Youth Services and Teen Room Policy

Unattended Child Policy

Lithgow Public Library wants children to use its facilities and services and strives to provide a warm, welcoming, safe and educational environment for library users of all ages. Children in the library should always be accompanied by a parent/guardian or assigned caregiver. Responsibility for children in the library rests with parents/guardians or caregivers and not with library staff. Children five and under may never be left alone in the library. Children ages six to nine may be left in the building if their parent/guardian or caregiver is in the building and the child is aware of their location. Children ten and over are permitted to use the library without a parent or guardian. Please see a staff person if you have any questions about this policy.

Unattended Adults in Youth Services and Teen Room

Adults may visit Youth Services and the Teen Room when accompanied by children and teens using that department or when retrieving materials from that department. Unaccompanied adults may be asked by library staff to use the facilities, services, and equipment in the adult section of the library.
