Join us for a documentary screening of Building Hope: Ending Homelessness in Maine, directed by Richard Kane, followed by a panel discussion with representatives from local groups who are addressing some of the needs of the unhoused population in our city. These including meals, medical services, warming shelters and social services. This powerful documentary shares the stories of unhoused Mainers striving to rebuild their lives after life-altering events like domestic violence, the pandemic, and incarceration. Featuring insights from leaders working to address homelessness, director Richard Kane’s latest film is a moving call to action, reminding us of our power to make a difference.
Thank you to everyone who came to the Introduction to Wood Carving workshop on Saturday, and special thanks to the Maine Wood Carvers Association for making this possible!
Using writing prompts from Nancy Slonim Aronie’s book, Writing from the Heart, explore the creative use of words to tell your story. Leave behind the need to find the “right” words and allow your own feelings and experiences to guide you. This class provides a comfortable atmosphere where curiosity is nurtured and the time is just for you. No experience needed.
